SOCIAL SCENE: Cheers to Commonwealth Week
New Zealand’s new Ambassador to Barbados Anton Ojala recently teamed up with the Barbados branch of the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) to host a reception in celebration of Commonwealth Week.
Guest of honour Governor General Dame Sandra Mason joined High Commissioner Ojala, chair of the local RCS branch, Cheryll Sealy-Belle, and other RCS members, diplomats, a few local consular representatives for Commonwealth countries and other guests in the scenic grounds of Sweetfield Manor, Brittons Hill, for the occasion.
Speeches were brief as Ojala highlighted the special relationship between New Zealand and Barbados, while Sealy-Belle gave an outline of the work being done by the RCS Barbados branch with support from New Zealand, as well as other initiatives in which the branch is engaged. (GC)
