Breedy marches on in the ring
Cobia “Soldier” Breedy is still undefeated. The Barbadian-born professional boxer gained his 13th victory when he won a unanimous technical decision over Fernando Fuentes on Sunday night at the MGM Grand National Harbour in Maryland.
“This was a very tough fight for me,” Breedy told THE NATION in a telephone interview from Maryland.
“My coach and I had a very good game plan. [Fuentes] was 14-7 but he won his last eight fights, so he was a threat. He was a tall and wild fighter, so I tried to execute the game plan as best as I could.
“He was fighting and swinging wild but I took the fight to him. It was an amazing fight – we were just going back and forth but I was the better fighter at the end of the day.”
“It was six rounds and then we accidentally had a head butt in the sixth round, so the doctor stopped the fight and I got a unanimous technical decision because of his injury,” said Breedy, who fights in the featherweight category. (RG)
