Teen charged with assisting offender

Police have arrested and charged 19-year-old Akela Keanna Gittens, of 5F Madison Terrace, Deacons Farm, St Michael, with assisting an offender. 

She faced charges that between February 16 and March 23 of this year, believing Kadeem Clarke committed an arrestable offence to wit – murder; without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, provided accommodation and financial assistance with intent to impede apprehension of Clarke.

She appeared at the Holetown Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Wanda Blair where she was not required to plea to the indictable offence. She was granted bail in the sum of $8 000 with one surety with the condition that she report to Black Rock Police Station every Monday and Friday before 9 a.m.

She is scheduled to reappear at the same court on September 17. (PR)
