Pride players paid by BCA
The Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) is owed more than $2 million by Cricket West Indies (CWI) but Barbados Pride players have been paid for most of the 2018-2019 regional four-day tournaments.
As reports surface that players from some other franchises have yet to receive monies for the majority of the Caribbean’s premier first-class competition, BCA president Conde Riley revealed that the association undertook to pay the Pride squad from its own funds against the background of cash flow issues facing CWI.
“We pay our players. Even if money does not come through from Cricket West Indies, we usually pay our players on time. We are in a slightly better position. I will know on Tuesday evening what is the status, whether we are up to date with our payments in terms of the franchise.
“Although money comes through late, we don’t like to keep our players waiting on money. We will pay them out of money that we have,” Riley told THE NATION. (HG)
