It looks like Barbados has chalked up another bumper winter tourist season, building on the record 2.75 per cent growth overall in the performance of the industry for the year 2018.

The 2018/19 season ended officially on April 15, and while official final statistics are yet to be compiled, chairman of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) Sunil Chatrani said the season was “stronger than last year” and even better than recent years of growth. He said his view was based mainly on reports from hoteliers.

Chatrani, who is also CEO and executive director of Elegant Hotels Group, however, projected the summer season would be challenging and one “that we have to watch cautiously”. (GC)
