Former Member of Parliament and community leader Hamilton Lashley is calling for mini-stadiums to be established at various sporting facilities across the island.
His call comes in light of the current state of the National Stadium at Waterford, where the stands were deemed unsafe and closed to the public in 2015.
The stands were recently made available to the public ahead of the athletics season following the removal of its galvanised sheeting.
Lashley, a former Minister of Social Transformation, told Weekend Sport the setting up of such facilities will not only take the pressure off the National Stadium but will encourage greater sporting development at the community level. (RG)
