All for holiday calm
PRODUCTIVITY CANNOT SIMPLY be measured by profits and Barbadians need to calm down when some holidays occur close to one another.
Minister of Labour Colin Jordan said the issue of whether Barbados had too many holidays tended to rear up every time Easter occurred later in the year.
“These issues become excitable in a year like this when Easter is late and runs up on Heroes Day and May Day.
So people get excited every time when these holidays happen in close proximity. If Easter was in March, this discussion would not be happening. I think people have to be more dispassionate and recognise these holidays [only occur like this every few years],” he said.
Jordan was speaking to the NATION yesterday after the annual May Day service of thanksgiving at Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St Michael.
