Temporary measures to fix the South coast sewerage system have been working very well, says Minister of Energy and Water Resources Wilfred Abrahams.
“We started the proprietary work for the construction of the permanent outfall. We have settled on the contract for the design and investigatory things that precede the actual construction of the outfall.
“If you pass down by the South coast, you would see that some drilling and stuff is going on there. All of this is done with the stated objective of having the outfall completed by the end of September next year,” he explained.
Abrahams said though the systems were only temporary, authorities were not having any issues “to the point where people call me and say they see water coming up in the streets on the south coast but it can’t be sewage, it must be something else, a pipe must be burst or something else”. (DB)
