27-year-old facing six charges

Earlier today, police from the drug squad arrested and charged 27-year-old Brian Arthur or Savannah Road, Walkers, St Andrew with several drug related offences, which he allegedly committed at his residence on Thursday, May 23.

Arthur was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of cannabis, intent to supply cannabis, trafficking cannabis and handling cannabis.

On Thursday, May 23, the drug squad executed a search warrant at Arthur’s residence. During the search a package that was suspected to be cannabis was found, along with a firearm and 28 rounds of ammunition.

A search of the yard found four packages in an old vehicle and 27 packaged buried in a sheep pen on the premises.

The suspected cannabis weighed 129 kilogrammes (283.8 lbs) and carried and estimated street value of $516 000.

Arthur was scheduled to appear in the Belleplaine Court today. (PR)
