HER DEFENCE WITNESS was ill and, as a result, the theft and money laundering trial against attorney Vonda Pile was adjourned when it came up for hearing in the No 2 Supreme Court yesterday.

The trial resumes today.

Pile, of Madison Terrace, Deacons Farm, St Michael, has denied stealing US$96 008, belonging to Anstey King, between April 29, 2009 and October 26, 2010.

She has also denied engaging in money laundering in that she disposed of US$96 008, between April 29, 2009 and October 26, 2010, being the proceeds of crime.

Pile is representing herself, while Senior Crown Counsel Krystal Delaney is prosecuting. Attorney Robert “Bobby” Clarke is holding a watching brief for the complainant.

Justice Pamela Beckles and a nine-member jury are hearing the case.
