BHTA launch discount card
The Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA) has officially launched its discount card, sponsored by Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
Membership relations officer Sunita Jones made the presentation at the BHTA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St Michael this morning.
The card, she explained, was valid effective today until the end of June 2020.
“The discount programme is specifically for the employees and members of the association, with discounts and special offers being offered by 61 companies,” she said.
Companies include 20 hotels and villas, 21 restaurants and bars, eight activities and attractions, two furniture and car rental companies each, three spas, a kids’ clothing and toy store. Other services include a pharmacy, security firm, sign company, public relations, advertising, rental equipment, a meet and greet service and an information technology provider.
Additionally, seven non-members have signed on as a part of the discount programme.
“A decision was made . . . to allow for non-members to participate in offering discounts. The rational was to allow our members the ability to maximise their spend, and to afford the participating companies the opportunity to promote their company via this network,” Jones added.
Discounts range from five to 20 per cent and some of the special benefits include free upgrades at accommodation and free drinks and deserts at participating restaurants, among others.
A discount booklet is set to be circulated following the AGM. Members receive two free cards with each additional card costing $20. (RA)
