It has been a “long road”, says Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic, but finally Government has been able to launch its much-touted 24/7 service at one of the island’s busiest polyclinics.
“I apologise on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Wellness for not being able to deliver this service last year October as we had promised, but there were some valid issues raised that had to be dealt with. I am happy to say we are in a position now where we have been able to resolve all of the issues that have been raised,” he declared on Monday.
He was speaking to the media following the official opening of the service at the Winston Scott Polyclinic in Jemmotts Lane, St Michael.
A number of officials from across the health sector were present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Some patients waiting to see doctors also got caught up in the celebration, with two receiving gift baskets for being the very first in the 24-hour set-up. (RA)
