Manslaughter case for High Court
THE CASE involving the physical abuse of a six-year-old child who died more than four years ago has moved out of the Magistrates’ Court system.
The matter with Jahan King will now be heard by judge and jury at the High Court.
The boy’s mother Lasolnta Katrina Gill and the boy’s step father Dwayne Alastair Marshall were back in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday for the conclusion of their preliminary inquiry.
Gill, a 30-year-old cashier, and Marshall, 37, both of “Belfield”, Jackson, St Michael, were accused of unlawfully killing the child on June 29, 2015.
Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant told the two accused that a prima facie case had been made out against them and committed the matter to the High Court for trial.
The two are on bail until their case is called. (HLE)
