Over To Cops
The Special Audit of the Transport Board by the Auditor General will be handed over to the police this week for them to determine if it is worthy of further investigation.
This was revealed by Transport Board chairman Ian Gooding-Edghill yesterday, in response to reports that the board had called in the police on the matter.
“The board met on Thursday and decided that the matters outlined in the Auditor General’s Special Audit Report are so serious that they unanimously agreed and directed the acting general manager to hand it over to the police’s fraud squad division,” said Gooding-Edghill, who reminded that the Royal Barbados Police Force can only investigate a matter when it has been officially reported to them, and that is what they intend to do.
Furthermore, the chairman said the board would be launching an investigation into the missing bus that was also highlighted in the Auditor General’s Report. (SP)
