BWA freezes tank offer

Another public/private sector partnership between the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) and Innotech Equipment Inc. has gone awry.

This time, the personal tank programme, introduced in 2017 as one of the BWA’s water solutions for residents living in water-scarce communities, has been discontinued.

Under the arrangement, the BWA was supposed to pay Innotech $4 800 plus value added tax (VAT) per tank for 625 tanks, plus another $1 600 plus VAT for each tank installed. The customer would then pay the BWA an interest-free $80 a month for the system.

The package came with a 400-gallon tank with all the pipe fittings, the concrete base, the non-return valves, the pump and the installation.

General manager Keithroy Halliday told THE NATION that the BWA was looking at an alternative arrangement. (MB)
