Squash champs 3rd year running

Date:

Barbados’ junior squash players returned home from Trinidad and Tobago yesterday as the Caribbean Area Squash Association champions for the third year in a row, with Minister of Sports John King inviting them to a “conversation” to outline their goals to carry the sport even further.

With senior Caribbean queen Meagan Best claiming her seventh junior title and strong support coming from Under-13 champion Ebony Atherley and Under-11 princess Phoebe Gittens, along with Sumairaa Suleman, coach Shawn Simpson said the girls were “unbeatable”.

Overseas-based Khamal Cumberbatch clinched his seventh individual title but the boys had to settle for second place behind Guyana.

In welcoming the champions home, King extended congratulations from the Government and people of Barbados. (KB)
