Barbados’ Under-23 football team is not resting on its laurels after topping Group B and advancing to the second round of the 2019 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Championship.

The Tridents shocked Cuba 1-0 in their first match, compliments a strike from Kaeson Trench. They also thrashed hosts United States Virgin Islands (USVI) 5-0 at the Ulrich Sports Complex in St Croix Sunday to set up a date with the runners-up in Group C, which starts today.

“The team is on a high, but we are not [over]confident. We will continue playing and respecting the game and, hopefully, we keep advancing,” centre back Najee Holder said during a post-match interview.

“It is an honour to make it to the next round and, hopefully, we can go on to do our best,” he added. (AGB)
