The medal wait continues for Barbados.
Quarter-miler Jonathan Jones finished fifth in the men’s 400m final at the Pan American Games in Lima,Peru this evening.
Running in lane 9, the former Harrison College and Coleridge and Parry schoolboy produced a valiant display to cross the line in 45.35 seconds.
Jones was off to the perfect start, but faded in the final 100 metres. Columbia’s Anthony Zambano took the gold (44.83) , Jamaica’s Demish Gaye snatched the silver (44.94) while Justin Robinson of the United States came third (45.07).
 In the women’s 400m final, other Barbadian Sada Williams came seventh with a time of 52.25. Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson won the gold (50.73), Mexico’s Paola Moran grabbed the silver with a personal best time of 51.02.  Courtney Okola of the United States took the bronze in 51.22 seconds.
Tia-Adana Belle also missed out on a podium finish placing fourth in the women’s 400m hurdles with a time of 55.93. (AGB)
