BCA ‘right on’ with Riley
The Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) has been on the right track under the leadership of president Conde Riley.
This was the view of incumbent secretary Gregory Nicholls ahead of elections at the association’s 17th special meeting of members on August 29.
“Riley is very passionate about cricket. The infrastructure of Barbados cricket is strong so those persons who want to come to the board and make you believe that this has been a board that has been sleeping on the job, that is just puffery. They are just trying to big up themselves in order to gain attention. We have a record number of people playing international cricket at all levels for the West Indies. Our youth and women’s cricket teams are performing creditably well among our competitors in the region,” Nicholls told THE NATION.
“The BCA is healthy; it is strong and it is doing well. Why do I say that? We just won the (regional) Under-19 tournament, we won the Under-17 tournament; we won it last year and a year before. We won the Under-15 tournament for three years in a row. We won the women’s tournament two years in a row. This year the women won all the matches they played both in the 50-over and the T20s.” (RG)
