No sewage leaks
THERE ARE NO LEAKS in the South Coast Sewerage system.
That assurance has come from Minister of Water Resources and Drainage Wilfred Abrahams.
Over the weekend, several people on social media claimed there was an odour near Dover and in a northerly direction to Worthing, and wondered if effluent was again leaking into the streets in the busy tourist and commercial area similar to last year when numerous breaches occurred.
But according to Abrahams, the Barbados Water Authority’s round-the-clock maintenance of the system remains in place, and no breaches have been discovered.
“There are no issues currently with the South Coast Sewerage Plant or system,” Abrahams told the DAILY NATION yesterday. “We received the reports as well of the smell and can confirm that investigations had indicated that the levels in the sewer lines are normal and there are no indications of a blockage.” (BA)
