Trio share medical dreams
Together they cherished dreams of studying medicine. They also studied together, surrounded themselves with positive people, and fed the dream until it became a reality just over a week ago, when they were accepted into the University of The West Indies (Cave Hill Campus) Faculty of Medicine en route to becoming doctors.
For Tara Holder, Tori Stuart, and Elan Harewood-Forde, all graduates of the Christ Church Foundation School, the opportunity to begin studies in medicine has left this trio on cloud nine.
Holder, the sole Foundation School student to gain a 2019 Barbados Exhibition, describes the feeling as “phenomenal”, and “surreal.”
“It was an amazing feeling when I realised I had won an exhibition. It was also an amazing confidence booster for me. I always knew I would do well, but I didn’t know I would win an exhibition,” the jubilant 18 year old said.
Stuart and Harewood-Forde were just as pleased, but more so happy that the months and years of sacrifices had given them the results they desired.
When EASY Magazine caught up with these three friends last week, they had just days before celebrated their successes by spending a night at the movies – something they had put on hold while they concentrated on their studies. (CH)
