OVERSEAS-BASED STRIKERS Hallam Hope and Nick Blackman will look to kick Barbados off to a winning start in Group C of the Concacaf Nations League tomorrow.

The Bajan Tridents have a date with St Martin at the Wildey Turf at 6 p.m. in what will be newly appointed head coach Russell Latapy’s first game in charge.

The 51-year-old former Trinidadian international has called on the services of English club Carlisle United’s forward Hope and Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Blackman to make Barbados strong upfront.

Hope, a former Everton FC Academy player, scored twice last year on his debut for Barbados in 2-2 draw against Guyana at the Leonara Stadium, but the Tridents were penalised by FIFA fora breach in the status in relation to the eligibility of Hope and centre back Krystian Pearce.

Speaking to NATION SPORT ahead of the highly anticipated match, Latapy said Hope’s and Blackman’s inclusion is set to give Barbados the edge on their Caribbean opponents as well as lift the mood in the locker room.
