Customs changes still in the works
Major changes at the Customs and Excise Department will not stop following the installation of new management and next week’s planned introduction of the ASYCUDA World system.
With improvements at Customs among the topics discussed with an International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation in Barbados this week, Minister in the Ministry of Finance Ryan Straughn yesterday confirmed a “one-week extension” for the introduction of ASYCUDA World, which when in place is expected to significantly improve business transactions at the port.
However, based on its Supplementary Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies with the IMF, Government has promised a number of other changes at the Customs and Excise Department. (SC)
