Immigration sets goal

By yearend, all outstanding applications for citizenship in the Immigration Department will be processed.

This undertaking was given by the department to the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, according to an internal memo, outlining citizenship statistical information between 2015 and 2019, dated August 16.  

It stated in part: “A recent audit was conducted and it is anticipated that with the new departmental policy, all outstanding applications will be processed by 31 December, 2019. You may note that outstanding applications can be attributed to missing documents on applications; and/or no up-to-date contact information for applicants.”

These numbered 177, while 51 applications were pending for January to June this year. (SP)
