Tridents up for unbeaten Warriors

Buoyed by Friday night’s crushing victory over St Lucia Zouks, Barbados Tridents will be looking to snap the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ five-match unbeaten record.

The Tridents oppose the Amazon Warriors in the first match of their home leg in this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at Kensington Oval from 6 p.m. today.

Tridents captain Jason Holder believes their 71-run triumph over the Zouks will give them the impetus to make a winning start to the five-match Barbados leg.

“We obviously gathered some momentum. I felt we did a lot of things well. It is just a matter for the guys to continue and build momentum,” Holder told the media at the Grantley Adams International Airport after arriving from St Lucia yesterday.

“I think these home games are very crucial for us and the good thing is that we had an away leg which I felt went reasonably well. Arguably, we should’ve probably won the game in Jamaica. But two from four away, for me, is a good start and, hopefully, we can gather some momentum here at the back end of the tournament.” (EZS)
