Yet another family and community is in mourning following gun violence.

This time it is the family, friends and neighbours in the Bayland, St Michael community where Leandrew Sharvar Coward, a young, well-liked member of the district was gunned down on Thursday.

His was the second killing in a week. Kevin Atherley was stabbed to death on September 26 near his home Padmore Village, St Philip, on Harrow Road.

Police reported Coward, 33, of Field Place, Bayland, was shot multiple times about the body about 2:18 a.m. while at Jessamine Avenue, Bayville, St Michael. He succumbed to his injuries around 5:48 p.m, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He was the father of a 13-year-old girl.

While his family declined to comment, two of his friends spoke about the man they had come to know and love as “Babar”.

The youth in the area also pointed out the spot near a shop where their friend was reportedly shot. (CA)
