Nurses welcome Mottley’s move
The Barbados Nurses Association says it is happy that nurses are finally to receive their due.
President Joannah Waterman said she was heartened by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley’s recent response in relation to matters including the low morale of nurses.
“The nurses are very aggrieved and morale is low. Top of the list is the sporadic salary payments where nurses, in particular in the Psychiatric and Geriatric hospitals, were going months without pay. We have made many interventions on that matter and the Minister of Health had said it was in the hands of the Prime Minister,” she told THE NATION yesterday.
Waterman said she had spoken to the Prime Minister during Monday’s Social Partnership meeting as a member of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados, and the word was positive. (CA)
