Over $8 million worth of illegal drugs destroyed
Police destroyed over $8 million worth of illegal drugs earlier this morning at the Grantley Adams International Airport.
One hundred and forty kilograms of cannabis, with an estimated street value of $550 000, and 161.4 kilograms of cocaine taken from adjudicated cases and various areas across the island were burnt.
“We are burning drugs from the exhibit facility at the Central Police Station and we also have some from all the divisions on the island,” Deputy Divisional Commander of the Bridgetown Division Superintendent (ag) Peter Gibson, told members of the media.
Gibson also said Police are successfully fighting against drugs in Barbados.
“I think we are doing well in that area. We have some drugs that came through the post office and from around the island, so we are doing pretty good,” he added. (AGB)
