Section of Highway 1 reopens on Monday

The section of road along Highway 1 between Porter’s Road and Coral Reef, St James, will reopen from Monday.

Word of this has come from Project Manager in the Ministry of Environment and National Beautification’s Project Management Co-ordination Unit, Ricardo Marshall.

As part of the Adaptation Measures to Counter the Effects of Climate Change Project, the road was closed to allow for the installation of flood alleviation structures, such as culverts and channels. The aim of the project is to improve drainage and alleviate flooding in certain areas in St James.

Meanwhile, the public is also asked to note that Trents Tenantry Road will be closed from Tuesday to facilitate necessary works under the project.

This closure is estimated to last approximately three weeks, weather permitting. Local access to Trents Tenantry Road will be from the south. (BGIS)
