There is still much to be done, in particular concerning fire extinguishers, to ensure the safety of workers in The City.
Minister of Labour Colin Jordan embarked on a tour of some businesses yesterday as part of a programme started ten months ago.
He said it was one thing to receive information and another to see for yourself.
“We thought it important to get personal information.
We visited restaurants, offshore businesses, a stone quarry, Arawak Cement factory, businesses in the manufacturing sector, businesses in information technology and thought to conclude the programme with stores in Bridgetown.
I think it is important for me as the Minister of Labour to see the conditions in which people work,” he said. (CA)
