BWA reaches deal with Innotech
The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) has reached a deal with Innotech Services Limited.
Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Wilfred Abrahams, disclosed this today while speaking to the media at the Ministry’s Christmas luncheon, at Halton Plantation, St Philip.
“I am very glad to say we have finally signed off on the deal with Innotech. It covers the building that we’re in, the rental and maintenance of it, the water tanker trucks, the personal tanks programme and portable desal (desalination) units.
“It now allows us to utilise all of the resources that we have available to us, to address the issues that we are dealing with right now and it’s a positive step,” he stated.
Abrahams said ‘concentrated efforts’, involving a lot of meetings, negotiations and behind the scenes work by staff within the Ministry and the board of the BWA, as well as the external debt negotiators for the Government of Barbados, White Oaks, went in to finalising the deal.
“I am comfortable right now that we have put that aspect behind us, and we can now focus on what is important, delivering the services we are supposed to deliver to the people of Barbados with everything in our arsenal. What we now don’t have we know we have to make other arrangements for, but we are now going to utilise everything that is available to us.” (BGIS)
