Officials of the Barbados Fire Service were forced into action early this morning, when a fire erupted on the outskirts of the Courts Barbados department store in Speightstown, St Peter.

A representative of the Fire Service told Nation News that the fire started with a few stalls located on the outside of the Courts store, and the blaze was extinguished before the building could be seriously damaged.

The store was being ventilated, as heavy billows of smoke did enter the building during the fire.

No injuries were reported. (BA)
