More trucks join SSA fleet

The Sanitation Service Authority’s (SSA) fleet is building, as ten compactors rolled out of the Bridgetown Port yesterday, most of which should be in use before Christmas.

“I promised I would present a national gift to the people of Barbados and I believe this comes from a divine force that, at a critical moment when we are faced with the issue of waste across the country, and on the eve of Christmas, we are now in possession of ten new trucks,” said Minister of the Environment Trevor Prescod.

He said the trucks would be on the streets by Monday and would result in a substantial reduction of refuse.

SSA chairman Senator Rudy Grant said the trucks were not the only new ones nor would they be the last, as two had arrived on Friday as part of a 12-truck partnership deal with Simpson Motors. (CA)
