A special meeting of teachers meant to start the process of ousting the leadership of the Barbados Union of Teachers fizzled yesterday after 90 minutes.

The expected showdown between president Sean Spencer and former public relations officer Dwayne Goddard (inset), who tabled a no-confidence motion against him that was seconded by former president Pedro Shepherd, never materialised.

dwayne-goddardMembers filed into the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology for the special meeting that was convened at 4:30 p.m. and, after some back and forth, the motion was dismissed just before 6 p.m. with teachers this time storming out.

Goddard apparently veered away from his initial call to remove the leadership. (DF)
