PM thanks IDB for helping hand
Barbados’ economy has now “turned the corner”, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has played a significant role in the effort, says Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.
She praised the IDB and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) for coming to her administration’s aid in 2018 and said “the future of this country this year looks good”, with economic growth predicted to return.
The Prime Minister was speaking at Hilton Barbados Resort on Thursday evening at the opening ceremony of the IDB’s 9th Annual Consultation With Caribbean Governors.
Prior to the opening, Mottley and IDB president Luis Alberto Moreno signed agreements for a US$40 million loan to contribute to the digital transformation of public administration and improve the quality of public and private services, and a US$30 million loan as part of the Sustainable Energy Investment Programme (Smart Fund II).
