Pinelands rise as Warriors slide
THE constrasting fortunes of former champions KFC Orange 3 Pinelands and Barbados Hilton Resorts Warriors continued when the Cooperators General Insurance Premier League Basketball Championship continued on Tuesday night at the Wildey Gymnasium.
While Pinelands eased away to a 81-68 win over newly-promoted City United Celtics to notch up their sixth successive victory, Warriors dropped to their sixth loss for the season, suffering a 55-87 drubbing from Barbados Lumber Company LSC.
After a back-in-time performance by veteran Sydney “Bouncer” Rowe, who scored a match-high 23 points and snared ten rebounds in City’s loss to defending champions Burger King Clapham Bulls, the former Barbados forward sat out the game against Pinelands with a hand injury.
Shawn Henry stepped up with a game-high 19 points for City, with Antoine Lawrence scoring 13 and Stevenson Callender adding ten. Former Pinelands player Jonathan Dottin pulled down ten rebounds.
