Police arrest and charge three

Three men were charged with several offences, ranging from possession of firearms and ammunition to robbery, some of which dated back to 2018.

They are Romono Anthony Drayton, 24 years of Turton Gap, Government Hill, St Michael, Rico Radarrah Reneal Forde of Salters, St George and 19-year-old  Jakran Ta’shawn Shamar Griffith of 1st Avenue Alleyne’s Land, Bush Hall, St Michael.

Griffith is charged with possession of a .38 revolver and five rounds of ammunition for which he did not have the relevant licences. He is also charged with assaulting police sergeant 1840 Rommel Downes with a firearm during the execution of his duty. All of these are alleged to have occurred on February 7, 2020.

Forde is charged with having one .9mm Smith and Wesson pistol and nine rounds of ammunition on February 7 without the relevant permits from the Commissioner of Police.

Other charges relate to an incident on January 26 where he “recklessly or without lawful authority or excuse, discharged a firearm in a public place”, namely the Sol Service Station at Charles Rowe Bridge, St George, placing Jianne Douglas in danger of death or serious bodily harm.

On the same day, he is alleged to have caused serious bodily harm to Shaquille Callender with intent to main, disfigure or disable him, or to do some serious bodily harm to him and used a firearm without a valid licence during the same incident at the gas station.

The final incident occurred on January 4 where he is alleged to have discharged a firearm at Government Hill, St Michael, placing Rashad Massiah in danger of death and serious bodily harm.

Meanwhile, Drayton, who was the subject of a wanted man notice, has a slew of charged dating back to 2018.

These include robbing police officer Sean Edwards and Ameina Storey at Brandon’s Beach, and robbing Orlando Burke and Anesta Henry of property totalling $1 285 and $1 820, respectively. All of these are alleged to have occurred on June 1, 2018.

He is charged with assaulting Ramario Greene and occasioning him actual bodily harm on August 27, 2018.

He is also charged with robbing Tyrell Shorey of one motor cycle valued at $5 000 on December 28 that same year.

On July 7, 2019, he is alleged to have caused Callender serious bodily harm and is also charged with the use of a firearm without a valid licence on that same day.

In 2020, Drayton is charged with use of a forearm at Government Hill on January 4, also placing Massiah in danger of death and serious bodily harm.

The final charge is possession of cannabis on February 7.
