QUEENSLAND – The West Indies Women defeated Pakistan Women by 19 runs in the third unofficial practice match at the Tewantin cricket ground, winning the three-match series two nil.

The second match of the series was called off due to rain and the Caribbean women had a six-wicket victory in the first.

West Indies Women won the toss and elected to bat, posting 122 for seven off their 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan Women were restricted to 103, falling short of the run chase with three balls remaining.

LeeAnn Kirby scored 32 and Hayley Matthews added 27 for the Windies. Kirby struck a lofty six and three fours and Matthews five boundaries.

Deandra Dottin and Shemaine Campbelle combined for a quick partnership of 38 runs, with Dottin scoring 18.

Despite the threatening rain the West Indies Women batted out the overs.

Aliyah Riaz was the best Pakistan bowler, finishing with figures of three for 23 from her four overs.

Pakistan never looked settled in the run-chase. With near perfect lines and lengths, Shakera Selman and Chinelle Henry had them on the back foot from the first ball, but it was spinner Anisa Mohammed who was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for 12 runs. Selman took two for 11.

The West Indies Women now move to their pre-World Cup base in Brisbane where they will play Australia on February 15 and India on February 18 in the official ICC T20 warm-up matches before their first group game on February 22 against Thailand at the WACA in Perth.

Summarised Scores:

Windies Women 122-7 in 20 overs (LeeAnn Kirby 32, Hayley Matthews 27; Aliyah Riaz 3-23). Pakistan Women 103 all out in 19.3 overs (Bisma Maroof 51 not out, Iram Javed 15; Anisa Mohammed 3-12, Shakera Selman 2-11). West Indies Women won by 19 runs. (PR/SAT)
