THEY SAY wise men come from the east but apparently talented female runners come from that direction also.

That could certainly be said about the St Catherine’s girls following their incredible feat of five straight titles, while Elliott Belgrave also kept their crown during the Teacher’s Co-operative Credit Union Obadele Thompson Zone of the National Primary Schools Athletics Championships yesterday.

At the National Stadium, the girls threw down the gauntlet from the very start and maintained that performance to finish the day with 155 points while clinching their sixth triumph from seven times participating overall.

St Bernard’s placed second with 147 points while Trinity Academy finished close behind after gaining 142 points.

St Margaret’s took fourth place with 85 points, one more than fifth-placed St Margaret’s.

Elliott Belgrave, who competed and won for the second time under their new name, wrapped up the boys’ section with 152 points.

St Catherine were second with 120 points, followed by St Mark’s in third with 114 points. St Bernard’s and Workman’s followed with 90 and 89 points, respectively.(RG)
