THE RINGING of the bell at Vauxhall Primary School yesterday morning was a welcome noise for parents as they dropped off their young charges.

The school had been closed since last Thursday to facilitate remedial work after staff and parents had complained of an infestation of rats, termites and cockroaches, among other environmental concerns.

Last Wednesday, Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw, acting Chief Education Officer Joy Adamson and other education officials toured the school for three hours with concerned parents. Following a short meeting, it was decided that the Christ Church school would be closed to facilitate refurbishment. (RA)
