The Parliament of Barbados made a seamless transition from The City to the temporary location at Worthing Corporate Centre, Worthing, Christ Church this morning.
Members of Parliament and technocrats in some ministries began arriving for today’s sitting of the House of Assembly after 8 a.m.
Among those spotted were Attorney General Dale Marshall, MP for St Lucy Peter Phillips, MP for Christ Church South Ralph Thorne, MP for St Thomas Cynthia Forde, MP for St James South Sandra Husbands, MP for St George North Gline Clarke and Senator Crystal Haynes.
Speaker Arthur Holder praised Clerk of Parliament Pedro Eastmond for the work done to make the building ready for today’s sitting. He told the media he could not state how long they would be in Worthing, but all of the environmental issues plaguing the Parliament Buildings in Bridgetown would first have to be rectified.
Today’s sitting also marked the return of MP for St Philip North and Chairman of Committees, Dr Sonia Browne.
She was away from Parliament for several weeks, citing environmental issues in the old buildings. (SAT)
