Regional Heads of Government and Ministers of Health assembled today to come up with a consensus on protocols for the deadly coronavirus (Covid-19).

The stakeholders entered the Frangipani room of the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St Michael around noon, for what is expected to be a long-haul meeting into late this evening, officials said.

The meeting is being chaired by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, who is also chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and has attracted officials from tourism, labour and the private sector.

Yesterday, Mottley said it was critical that CARICOM members come up with a strategy to deal with the virus, especially after some countries refused entry to cruise liners amidst fears of people with the virus being on board.

Today’s meeting will see heavy involvement from the Florida and Caribbean Cruise Association, the Caribbean Public Health Agency, and the Pan American Health Organisation.
