An Italian cruise ship was sent on its way after anchoring off Barbados yesterday, following suspicions of the passengers carrying the coronavirus (Covid-19).
The Costa Magica had been turned away from both Tobago, and St Kitts and Nevis after authorities suspected some people had the virus.
Onboard were 2 307 passengers, which included 417 Italians who boarded the vessel between February 28 and March 6, and 962 crew members.
Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Anton Best, through a release from the Barbados Government Information Service last night, said the initial medical report from the ship stated four passengers were experiencing flu-like symptoms, none of which had a “travel history of interest”.
That information was updated yesterday morning to include the three sick passengers, two Italians and a Guadeloupian who were tested. (RA)
