Wash your hands and stop mixing chemicals that could produce a toxic acid.

This advice from director of the Barbados Drug Service, Dr Maryam Hinds, yesterday following a media briefing at Government Headquarters, Bay Street, St Michael.

Hinds was concerned about the number of people who were “mixing any and everything” to sanitise against the novel coronavirus Covid-19.

“You don’t want to do that, so you have be very careful how you mix chemicals,” she said.

Hinds asked people to “hold strain” as local agent Carlisle Laboratories is hoping to soon manufacture a lot more hand sanitisers so they are available on the market.

For those who want to make their own sanitiser, Hinds said certified formulas can be found on the websites of the Ministry of Health and World Health Organisation. (KG)
