Employers are being urged to implement a strategy to protect their workers, customers and the general public as Barbados battles the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Barbados Employers’ Confederation (BEC) and the Human Resource Management Association of Barbados (HRMAB) have issued that advice as the country seeks to contain COVID-19, having recorded its first two cases yesterday.
Bosses are being told that by now they should have business continuity plans in place for the pandemic to guide them on issues, including reducing the potential of people becoming ill at work, remuneration, remote work arrangements, layoffs, and arrangements for employees who might be in quarantine or isolation.
The BEC issued a guidance note to its members before COVID-19 reached Barbados and also prepared a “toolkit” of documents “to assist employers during this uncertain time”. (SC)
