Social distancing measures at QEH

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) has enacted measures aimed at controlling the transmission of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Executive chairman Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland said these measures included restricting outpatient and pharmacy numbers; reducing visiting hours; reducing face-to-face meetings and ensuring frontline staff had adequate supplies of personal protective equipment.

She also spoke about a situation yesterday, where she said people who usually used the services of the pharmacy were not aware of the hospital’s social distancing policy. This resulted in some frustration.

Today those who could not be accommodated in the waiting area were seated under tents three feet away from each other.

Last week the QEH issued a notice asking people in need of medication to get a two-month supply.
