All businesses will be closed tomorrow except those outlined by Government as essential services.
Attorney General Dale Marshall, while giving this confirmation in Parliament today, said safety of citizens has been the overriding consideration during the response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Marshall was speaking in light of Barbados recording two more positive cases of COVID-19 overnight, bringing the total number of cases to 26. Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffery Bostic made the announcement on the floor of parliament today.
On Thursday night, Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced a curfew and Government’s intention to amend the Emergency Management Act to declare a public health emergency as Barbados moved to Stage 3 of the national response to COVID-19.
The curfew stipulates that from tomorrow at 8 p.m those who are not part of the essential services, must desist from traveling around between 8 p.m and 6 a.m every day until April 14.
While speaking in Parliament, Marshall said services such as hairdressers, nail salons, computer stores were among those that will be closed as Government seeks to limit the spread of the virus.
