BARBADOS’ top male swimmer Alex Sobers is determined not to let the dreaded coronavirus hinder his training sessions.

The 21-year-old, a student of Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia, has decided to trade the swimming pool for “dry land” in order to maintain form and fitness.

The global pandemic has forced the suspension of a number of international sporting events leaving athletes disappointed and frustrated.

“Due to all the cancellations of sports and closure of most facilities, all of my training is now on dry land. Right now I am just focussing on some stretching and aerobics,” Sobers told NATION SPORT during a telephone interview from Boston Massachusetts.
