City stores happy to reopen
Economic activity picked up in Bridgetown yesterday following the easing of more COVID-19 restrictions as Barbados moved into Phase 3 of its reopening plan.
Just after 8 a.m., consumers were standing in queues at several store fronts in The City as the businesses adhered to social distancing and other safety requirements.
After announcing their closure on March 28, popular department store Woolworth finally opened, to the satisfaction of customers, staff and managing director Martin Bryan.
“When we were closed everyone took vacation at the same time. Then when that vacation ran out, everyone was laid off for the week or two, but now everyone is back on staff as of today.” (TG)
