The Opposition People’s Party for Democracy and Development is calling on Government to make clear its plans for the creative economy, after spokesperson for the creative sector, Alan Springer, gave Minister of Culture and the Creative Economy John King a “poor grade”.

Springer was speaking at a press conference yesterday at the Opposition Leader’s Office at Worthing Corporate Centre, Christ Church.

“Comprehensive reform is needed within the framework of a new legislative act that triggers new ways of looking at the sector. From financing, infrastructure, how both human and physical resources are allocated and managed, and how it all comes together to form a fully functioning creative economy to give us the competitive edge in what is a fast developing billion-dollar industry,” he said.

Springer asked Government to outline its plans for the Empire Theatre, with a $15 million price tag, to be undertaken by developer Mark Maloney, who is also heading the Hyatt Ziva project. (RA)
